We are a community of engineers, Linux® kernel developers and developers of solutions based on it.

Who we are?

We are a community of leading engineers, Linux kernel and embedded systems developers, team and department leads. We have a deep understanding of the kernel architecture, its subsystems, interaction with maintainers, and development trends.

Our expertise allows us to:

  • Assist with upstream contributions.
  • Explain how subsystems work and find experts.
  • Review complex changes.
  • Discuss upcoming features before they reach mainline.

Our goals:

  • Mutual assistance and experience exchange.

We create an information environment where technical experience can be shared, and complex technical issues that go beyond a single company can be solved collaboratively.

"Today you work on open source, tomorrow open source works for you" — it's easier to solve large-scale problems together.

  • Developing human resources.

Promoting system development among students and professionals. Organizing training courses, lectures, and building a knowledge base.

  • Alternative communication platform.

Amidst the increasing complexity of global interactions, we offer a fast and effective way of mutual support as a community.

Why is it beneficial to engage with us?

  • For developers:

Networking with top-tier specialists.

Assistance with solving complex problems.

Opportunity to participate in significant projects.

  • For business:

Access to expertise and talent without direct R&D investment.

Reduced employee training costs.

Opportunity to influence the development of the open-source ecosystem.

  • For education:

Connection with industry, up-to-date knowledge.

Support in organizing courses and internships.

Principles of interaction

The purpose of the community is to share experience, discuss technical issues, jointly solve problems of any complexity, and popularize the Linux kernel and systems built on it.

Our activities are aimed at creating something new and socially beneficial, without excluding the right to create means and mechanisms of security and protection.

We comply with the law.

We do not discuss politics or decisions made by various states or their institutions in the past, present, or future.

We respect each other regardless of religion, citizenship, any specifics of the human body or the opinion of the body's owner about themselves and their body, as well as regardless of any other factor observed in diversifying one person from another.

We reserve the right for the organizing committee to exclude from the public communication mechanisms of the community subjects who violate these principles, without limiting access to publicly published information, unless this contradicts other points.

Our principles:

Openness — we are equally close to all companies and developers

Practicality — focus on real tasks, not abstract discussions.

Self Development and growth — we grow ourselves and help others grow.

Our projects
We work in several areas, equally slow in all of them ;-)
Digest & Chat
About community and not only
The first point of attraction is the Telegram-channel .

Currently, it publishes RULKC news.
Our plan is to launch a news digest on an ongoing basis.
We are looking for helpers.

Events

Creating the reasons to meet
It all started with OSDevConf2024.
There we met and got to know each other as an organizing committee. We liked it, and we want to continue.

The conferences is the most difficult area of our activity, as it requires significant resources to attract a logistical base, including premises, equipment, organizational, media, and other components.

Currently, we are thinking about how to hold the next big event and also preparing materials for small meetups. If you have the desire and opportunity to assist in this area, simply e-mail us.

Mailing list
The mailing list is a classic tool for the community and beyond for preparing patches before sending them upstream.
The mailing list allows you to:
  • Send patches to it before sending them upstream (or in parallel with sending them upstream).
  • Have the community review patches and discuss them within the mailing list.
  • Refine patches to a greater degree of readiness to increase the likelihood of seamless acceptance into the main branch of the corresponding project.

Media content
We popularize by creating knowledge collections
It is important to not only to solve technical issues but also to create a centralized knowledge base.

We started by launching channels on the media platforms VK, RuTube and YouTube .

On these channels, we are ready to publish recordings of community members' speeches, and we also plan to prepare exclusive material on behalf of the community.

Links to platforms: VK, RuTube, YouTube.
